Resumo: |
Introduction: It is well established that physical activity has positive effects on health and maintenance of a high quality of life. Physical activity measurement by questionnaires is an appropriate method to assess large populations, because the application of these resources is relatively inexpensive and requires not too much time to answer it. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the modified habitual physical activity Baecke questionnaire (MBQ) in healthy elderly. Material and methods: Out of 107, ninety healthy elderly answered MBQ in two visits (MBQ1) and re-test (MBQ2), which were applied by the same observer, 15 days apart. On the second visit, after applying the MBQ, patients performed the Shuttle test to assess physical capacity. Results: No significant differences were observed when comparing the MBQ1 and MBQ2 median scores. The activity of daily living, sport and leisure domains showed high correlation between test and retest (CCI = 0.76, 0.77 and 0.79, respectively, p ??? 0.001). Likewise, the MBQ total score showed excellent reproducibility (ICC: 0.76, p ??? 0.001). It was observed significant correlations between the distance walked during the shuttle test and the leisure (r = 0.20, p ??? 0.05), sports (r = 0.43, p ??? 0.05) and total (r = 0.53, p ??? 0.05) scores for MBQ2. Conclusion: This study showed that the modified habitual physical activity Baecke questionnaire is reproducible and a valid tool for using in evaluation and reevaluation of physical interventions for healthy elderly subjects, and it was able to identify two groups: sedentary and active subjects. |
