Resumo: |
The rapid increase in the elderly population in Brazil since the 1960s, coupled with technological and pharmaceutical advances in the 20th century that provided a better quality of life and longevity in the sexual activities of the elderly, research has observed an increase in STDs (Sexually Transmitted Disease) from the behavioral changes in this population group. The objective of this study was to propose a management model focused on the education and prevention of STDs, based on the perception of the elderly and health professionals in an Elderly Living Group (ELG) located in the city of São Paulo. Among the results of this study, 77.8% of the elderly knew some STDs, 99.3% did not use a condom during the last sexual intercourse, and 61.5% did not feel vulnerable to infections of this type. The multiprofessional team presented low knowledge about the sexuality approach of the elderly. The applied methodology is epidemiological, transversal, qualitative and quantitative descriptive. Data collection was performed by structured and validated questionnaires. In the analysis of the quantitative data the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program was used, and the qualitative analysis was the Collective Subject Discourse (DSC) technique. |
