Resumo: |
This research focuses on the process of decision making to acquire new technologies. The aim is to validate a model of usable parameters and indicators for selecting technological innovations to support open innovation management. The selection of new technologies is considered in the literature as one of the main processes to create competitive advantages for companies. Because of the abundance and complexity of technology options and their rapid diffusion, the process of new technologies selection is a critical stage in the development and adoption of innovations in the context of open innovation. Inside of this issue was explored the validation of a theoretical model of decision making for the new technologies selection process. The theoretical references that grounds the work explores the technological innovation management, typologies of innovation, model of technological evaluation and selection and technological innovation indicators model, generating a theoretical model of technology selection to be tested on a representative national sample of technology-based companies. The methodology used in the study was quantitative in nature. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire on a sample of 145 respondents from a population of 1624 companies. Data were statistically analyzed by through structural equation modeling with partial least squares and path model (PLS-PM), using the SmartPLS 2.0 and Excel software. The main results indicate that the proposed model has been validated in its almost fullness. Conclusively can be inferred that the business model assumes a central importance in the decision making process of acquiring external technologies and the dimensions of competition factors and nature of technology now have underlying value. Such evidences support the need for coherence of the new technology with the company's business model and the technological domain policy. |
