Resumo: Process control is a basic condition in business operations management. Productive sectors have incorporated Industry 4.0 technologies to increase the reliability of their processes, through the automation of data collection and decision making. The healthcare sector has industry practices as a reference in managing their processes. However, medical systems are still in analog mode. Recent digital changes, such as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in monitoring patients' clinical conditions, have increased the reliability of hospital processes. Although AI is present in hospital management, this research identified the absence of a study that has shown clinical results and care impacts of the use of AI in monitoring vital signs to reduce the risk of clinical deterioration of patients. The purpose of this study was to analyze an AI system applied to monitor vital signs of patients to reduce the risk of clinical deterioration. The method used was a case study carried out in a hospital institution based on a systematic review of the literature on the subject. This research contributed to the scientific community through the presentation of structured evidence after conducting a case study, as well as evaluating the results obtained from the implementation of a new technology in a hospital environment, allowing greater knowledge about healthcare area and adoption of technologies in their processes. It also contributed to the management of hospital operations to ensure favorable results, competitiveness, continuous improvement of processes and mitigation of harm associated with health care. With the possibility of providing safer care processes, there are also contributions to society.
