Resumo: |
The municipality of Franco da Rocha was marked by the past of the Juquery Psychiatric Hospital – implemented on farm lands of Vale do Rio Juquery in the late XlX century. The institution was the scene of psychiatric and psychological treatments, with national repercussions, and functioned as an asylum for patients with these pathologies throughout the XX century. The change of use of the institution was defined by means of a Master Plan, who promoted the reintegration of the population, considering mainly the identity of the city of Franco da Rocha and the “Juquerienses” influences in the municipality. As a methodology applied to the research, interviews were conducted with employees and former employees involved in the creation of the Master Plan, and the study flowed from the analysis of the new spatial “division” and its impact on the future of the city of Franco da Rocha, through of a redefinition of the use of the territory and the Heritage. The results showed that the insertion of the population in this new configuration reinforced the visceral feeling between the city and the complex, being able to provide a new use of space, while maintaining the memories of an institution that was fundamental for the development of the city. |
