Resumo: Operation of small diameter reaming has a wide application in industry, being used in various parts in various types of materials, producing holes with high quality and with a low production cost. Over the years there were few technological advances compared to other machining operations. Among the recent advances is possible to cite the use of hard metal as a building material for reamers and changes in cutting geometry. The objective of this work is to investigate and evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of the extension with reamers HSS - High Speed Steel after applying a metal conditioner whose main function is to reduce friction between metals and also evaluate the cost-benefit ratio with increasing this application. Wear twenty-four reamers subjected to milling under controlled conditions was observed. For this work two conditions were analyzed, the first twelve reamers in normal condition and the second with twelve reamers receiving the application of metal conditioner being. The methodology adopted for the research results was the Experimental Research. The results reveal an increase in the operating life of reaming, reduction of production costs and a higher cost-benefit when used metallic conditioner relationship.
