Resumo: E-learning tools have been increasingly used by contemporary companies. This research aims to analyze how e-learning tools can influence the steps of the organizational knowledge management process. In addition, we also sought to describe the factors that facilitate and impede the adoption of e-learning tools for knowledge management in the company. This is an exploratory research based on the technique of mixed methods, which employed both qualitative and quantitative elements through multiple case studies. An interview script was used as a research tool to collect data from the managers and, questionnaires was used to collect data from the technical staff. The field research was carried out in three information technology companies located in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo (SP). The results indicate the importance of the e-learning tools as an essential factor for the companies analyzed, being pointed by the managers as fundamental in the training of the employees and in the knowledge management in the organization. As a result of the influence of the tools in the stages of the knowledge management process, it was concluded that e-learning tools are used in practically all stages of the process. However, emphasis should be placed on the 'obtain / acquire', 'distribute / share', 'use / apply' and 'contribute / share knowledge' stages, which were the most indicated phases for managers and technical staff consulted on influence of e-learning tools in knowledge management. In addition, the main e-learning tools indicated were: Learning Management System (LMS), tools with VoIP technology, repositories and collaboration tools. Regarding the factors facilitating the adoption of e-learning tools by companies, it was pointed out the availability of information and flexibility in the use of knowledge. The discipline of the employees was indicated as the most difficult factor for the adoption of e-learning tools. As a conclusion, it was observed that the use of e-learning tools is inevitable in the analyzed companies, which consider these tools essential in the organizational knowledge management process.
