Resumo: The National Policy on Solid Waste has, among its objectives, to rule the final treatment given to solid waste, accomplishing with the current need to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the vast increase in consumption, especially in large urban centers. This policy also establishes that, by August 2014, dumping sites should be extinguished, and it proposes the selective collection of the urban waste and the reverse logistics as a means of reducing the aggressions to the planet. It is attributed to this law a strong pedagogical and practical character, since the reverse logistics requires the selective collection, the availability of equipment and locations to receive the waste. However, it is still easy to observe the disposal of municipal solid waste in inappropriate sites, thereby causing all kinds of problems, or inadequate disposal, causing the loss of economic value that residue could offer. Facing this situation, this research proposes the development of a software that aims to indicate locations for the proper disposal of municipal solid waste, in the vicinity of a given address in the city of S??o Paulo, aiming to encourage, facilitate and to guide the disposal at appropriate locations according to the type of waste. The result of this research is presented in the form of a report of the development of an algorithm proposed herein, which has been developed as a website, with the use of Geographic Information System tools, so in order to be able to specify disposal sites by its proximity. Thus, this dissertation aims to contribute with environmental cause to disseminate the use of this type of computational tool that helps in solving problems related to the environment and sustainability. As a conclusion the code from the website, that was developed to test the algorithm and the environment where it was installed, is presented therefore demonstrating the feasibility of using the chosen tools. The final development of the website remains as an extension of the present work, as well as a statistical survey of their use, aiming to improve the final product.
