Resumo: |
The consumption of TV series, specially the genres that mix reality show and interviews are one of the tendencies on the audiovisual. In this context, this dissertation aims to identify and understand the representation of the Brazilian who lives abroad through the narratives of the characters of the program “The world according to Brazilians”. Studies on the Sciences of culture and the concepts of identity of Stuart Hall, Néstor Garcia Canclini, Jesús Martín-Barbero and Peter Burke are used as a theoretical reference. About the convergence of the media and symbolic processes of TV we use works of Douglas Kellner, Henri Jenkins and Luis Mauro Sá Martino; about development and the television language, works of Raymond Williams, Arlindo Machado, Guillermo Orozco and Sebastião Squirra. Finally, for the concepts of memory, imagery and social representations we use works of Magali Cunha, Michel Maffesoli, Maurício Halbwachs, Gonzaga Motta and Serge Moscovici. Focusing on that, two methodological procedures are adopted: the bibliographical survey and a content analysis. Through the bibliographical research the studies are systematized on the main concepts that contribute to the understanding the construction process of the identities in the contemporary era, with emphasis on the following elements: memory, culture and imaginary. Another theoretical aspect in focus is the choice of genres and a language of TV to be transformed through the years due to the convergence of the media and the new technologies. In the second procedure, the content analysis is performed in five episodes of the program to understand how the idea of being Brazilian is represented in a massive television genre. The result of the research concerns an entertainment program, the perspective of the characters about Brazil and the country where they have lived now, especially with regard to cultural identity. |
