Resumo: Given the plurality found in the early Christian communities, the question of the divinity of Jesus is the object of controversy. The Synoptic Gospels treat the issue with some discretion. However, the so-called Fourth Gospel, brings a more incisive revelation concerning this question. What would be the reason for the Johannine community emphasized the divinity of Jesus? One has to pay attention to the fact that conflicts with various currents were doing this is in fact some communities, including that of John , which probably led to a more forceful advocacy on the issue . Research lead us to the fact that the Fourth Gospel shows us the diversity of Christianity in the first century and the reality of a movement that was already becoming institutionalized and becoming a source of power not only religious . The pericope of John 5. 19-30 reveals an evolution, sometimes confusing, the concept of the divinity of Jesus where the child terminology is confused with Jewish traditions and the figure of the sons of the gods in this ancient world.
