Resumo: |
There is no doubt that information and communication technology is fundamental to the performance of organizations and also affects the productivity of employees. However, misuse of technology can lead to irreversible problems for organizations, such as violating information security policies. The purpose of this study is to investigate the antecedents that may impact the misuse of information systems, in particular those specific that may cause the violation of information security policies. Therefore, the work was conducted through a confirmatory and single cross-sectional survey through a questionnaire with 10 demographic questions and 74 questions. The data were analyzed through 255 questionnaires answered by professionals who use information technology and that act from one year onwards in their current role. For the hypothesis tests of the study, the structural equation analysis was performed to the proposed research model. It was confirmed that Moral Disengagement had a positive effect on the Intent to Violate Organizational Information Security Policy. And the study shows that the Moral Justification dimension had the greatest effect, followed by the Euphemism dimension. Technological Ability has not been confirmed as a factor that influences the Intent Violation of Organizational Information Security Policy, but the result points to a negative value of the factor, which suggests an indication that this influence is negative. |
