This study analyzes the quality of working life in a cooperative of scavengers and also deals with if the relation between the quality of working life and social recognition. The leading question is: Does the quality of working life contribute to the social recognition improvement? The studies of Walton (1973) and Limongi - França (2010) have built the theoretical background for this study and they present some leading categories that helped to choose this specific waste pickers cooperative in Grande ABC Paulista, located in the city of Mauá.. The methodology used for this study was qualitative, whose instrument came through the application of interviews with eight of the twenty-eight members that are part of this cooperative of scavengers. According to the results, it was noted the importance of the participation of these workers in cooperatives, concern about health and safety at work and increased awareness of the importance of their work as a member of cooperative. |
