This work do a reading of growth migration of members inside of pentecostalism, in modernity s perspective, showing, by theoretical base and field research, the relations between that phenomenon and the socials transformations that characterize the modern world. Thus, the first chapter discuss the transformations take place in the religious field with the arise of modern world, especially the secularization, since XVI centur y, on Europe, and globalization, phenomenon earlier, and analyses the specific situation of Latin-American modernity and own relations between this and religion produced in that. The second chapter characterizes the pentecostalism and analyses its correspondence with modernity as it shows in Latin America. In the third chapter, several interpretative approaches of inter-religious migration or religious transit are discussed and the results of field research realized by the author between Pentecostals on São Bernardo do Campo municipality, SP, are analytical showed, demonstrating how they evidence the existence of intrinsic relations between the phenomenon studied and modernity. In this way, it shows how the religious, setting itself, or by adaptation to modernity, or by reaction to her, place itself not only as fruit, but also as factor of modernity.(AU) |
