Resumo: The paper analyses if the cultural journalism practiced by the "Valor Econômico" newspaper in the "EU&Fim de Semana" section breaks the traditional paradigm regarded to cinema, painting, literature, arts, dancing, music, architecture, sculpture, drama, cooking and tourism events. It is also a goal of this study to analyze if this concept is enlarged by modern phenomena. The research "corpus" was built with the front page main subject of 32 editions which resulted in 75 subject analyses. The theoretical framework adopted is the Pierre Bourdieu's culture sociology concept that focuses the field theory, social space, class "habitus" and the cosmopolitan elite wish distinction, taking the contemporaneity into account. However, it can’t be considered a piece of journalist work without social commitment. The quantitative and qualitative analyses used identify the presence of debates, tensions and conflicts, the cultural journalism concept, the beginning of the 21st century journalism cosmopolitan character as well as the cultural values adopted by the newspaper section bringing a prismatic view of reading and identifying the world to the readers.
