Resumo: This dissertation proposes to present some aspects that favored the arrival of Baptist Christianity in Belém do Pará, in the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, a description of the city will be made, pointing out some factors that made the immigration of Eurico Nelson possible. It is about a Baptist Swede who came to "live by faith" in a city visibly densified by the rubber exploration process and that allowed in its scenario the movement of several people of different nationalities, in addition to the man himself coming from the Amazon, who keeps strong indigenous heritage. It will be a clipping of the first six years of Eurico Nelson's work in the city, analyzing his religious activities in this cultural context so different from his own, as a starting point to understand the fabrics of the emerging Baptist daily life in Pará. In other words, there is a suspicion that the Baptists of Belém do Pará, in the history of the implantation of this church, have characteristics that are little contemplated by their traditional historiography, which probably stem from the dynamics of insertion in this specific urban context.(AU)
