Resumo: |
The difficulties in the learning process are discussed from a multiplicity of perspectives, evidencing the complexity of the variables that involve this theme. Parents and teachers often recognize children's poor school performance, often attributing the difficulties of learning to neglect, behavioral problems and sloppiness. However, in some cases, when assessed, it is noted that children have a good intellectual level, despite school complaints. In this context, the purpose of this study is to: Relate the academic performance to the level of intelligence in students of a public school unit and analyze the psychodynamics of two children who presented low school performance and good intelligence. In order to do so, the methodological strategy communicated a quantitative and qualitative delineation, divided into two stages, and in Step 1, the School Performance Test (TDE) and the Nonverbal Intelligence Test (R2) were used in a sample of 180 children from the first to fifth year of a public elementary school.. In view of the results of this first stage, Stage 2 was held, in which two children who had an average level of intelligence and low school performance participated. These children participated in a study in which the graphic projection technique HTP, the Time of Diagnostic Game was used, besides the interview with parents or guardians and teachers. The results of the first stage indicate that about 85% of the children studied had low school performance, while 173 children in the sample had scores on average or above it in terms of intelligence level. These data indicate that, although intelligent, school performance was compromised. Thus, in the second stage of the research, the case study of two of these children who were in this condition was carried out. The results, analyzed in a Kleinean psychodynamic perspective, articulated aspects of the life history, school, the playful and graphic expression and pointed out difficulties in the first relations of these children, marked by anxieties and threatening experiences constituted from a hostile and unrewarding reality. These aspects have been shown to be the basis of intellectual inhibition, considering the damages in the symbolic capacity and the establishment of secure and continual relations capable of offering the child satisfaction of his curiosity, his interest in the world and, consequently, learning. There is a need for a safe place in the family and school that guarantees the fullest development, because the way the child adapts himself to learning is indicative of his attitudes towards the challenges of life |
