Resumo: |
This work studies one of the forms in which the contemporary condition, named postmodernity, makes significant impact on human will. By making use of a phenomenological-existential approach and being mainly supported by Paul Ricoeur and Paul Tillich´s thinking, this research seeks to pinpoint the relation between postmodernity and the contemporary crisis of the will. The hypothesis employed here entails that the traits of contemporary crisis emerge out of the form in which the relation will-desire takes place. The social-cultural development of postmodernity has been analysed since the decade of 1930s´ and in dialogue with Jean-François Lyotard and Jean Baudrillard´s thinking in order to offer evidence of the development of such will-desire relation. Some Philosophical and Theological perspectives are explored towards the awareness of the integrating character of will. This integrating character should be seen as a force that is as vital as the expansionist, dissipating drive present in the dynamics of the will, considering that these both movements are constituent parts of the courage and power to be which ground human will.(AU) |
