Resumo: |
The growth of the elderly population in the country can be seen through the increase in the number of elderly people enrolled in the Youth and Adult Education (EJA) courses in the city of São Paulo. The research problem analyzes how does the school – in the face of this increasing number of elderly students - can contribute to active aging, respect the knowledge built throughout life, and help in the identification and emancipation of this student as a historical subject. The general objective is to analyze the data and concepts that express how population aging is impacting Society, especially with regard to education, and to contexto the scenario, from a broader perspective, permeating the legal specificities of the country and the city of São Paulo. The specific objectives are: (I) to describe the recurrent characteristics of the elderly population and their rights to Education; (II) to describe EJA in the Municipal Education Systems of São Paulo in two stages: one, in the period of implementation of the Municipal Education Secretariat (SME), during Paulo Freire's administration, between 1989/1991, and, another, nowadays; (III) to analyze three research activities that were developed for EJA students in the Municipal Education Systems from São Paulo, between 2018 and 2020. The theoretical framework adopted refers to authors from the Education and Human Rights and Aging (FREIRE,1980; DIETRICH & HASHIZUME, 2017; DEBERT, 2012) areas. The activities of Human Rights, Environmental Education and Literacy (remote classroom), analyzed from Paulo Freire (1980)’s point of view, values, respects and encourages the protagonism of the elderly student, which are decisive factors for the construction of a fairer and more equitable society. |
