Resumo: |
This work studies the characteristics of the Four Wave Mixing phenomenon in optical fibers operating in the 1550 nm window. The purpose is to understand theoretically the Four Wave Mixing phenomenon and confirm its effects through numerical simulations. Along this work, the dependence of the wave optical power generated by Four Wave Mixing process with fiber and incident optical pulses parameters is analyzed. It shows that the main parameters, which influence the efficacy of this process, are: power of channels, spectral separation between them, length of the fiber, and chromatic dispersion levels in the operating window. Such parameters can establish appropriated conditions to get a phase matching necessary to generate this phenomenon. The increase of the channel power results in the increase of wave power generated by this phenomenon, like every nonlinear effect; the decrease of spectral separation between channels allows the Four Wave Mixing to be more efficient to produce new frequency components; the length of the fiber plays an important role in the evolution of the wave generated by this process, due to the coherence length related to the phenomenon; the increase of the dispersion level decreases the efficiency of this phenomenon. |
