Resumo: This work intends to examine the role of information and communication dynamics on the creation and dissemination of sustainability speeches, considering the power relations and the conflict and cooperation dynamics. Such dynamics are analyzed, in particular, in the project Paragominas Green Town, at the municipality of Paragominas, Pará. From the debate on consensus, conflict, cooperation and power, it is discussed how the information and communication dynamics are expressed in the creation of speeches and the mobilization processes for sustainable development. Its consequences are analyzed considering the actions of the actors involved on the project Paragominas Green Town. It starts with the assumption that the different views on the nature-culture relation are in the center of the existing conflicts. For this study, it was used the methodology of interviews with representatives of major local actors and literature analysis. As a result, the study showed the centrality of information exchange and communication on the processes of sustainable development. It also showed that the sustainability speech reinforces the power relations that already existed, referring only to a change in the techniques of appropriation of natural resources, but not to a change in the economic rational or the social and institutional relations.
