This study had as objective to identify the necessity of learning for teachers of physical education since their knowledge about subject "obesity". Forty teachers of physical education were searched in the public school system fundamental and medium of the region of Catanduva city-SP. A questionnaire was used for that teachers could demonstrate their position about the subject. The main focus of the search was the prevention of childhood obesity, as these health professionals, are the first to have contact with children in school. For collecting information, the questionnaire was organized with 10 questions, multiple choice, divided among the issues most frequently about childhood obesity, as well as its causes, the main pathologies, alterations, prevention and treatment. As the causes of obesity 75% of interviewed said unknown them, and about the factors that originate it, 66.65% pointed genetic factors and 55% of the endocrine factors, among the 25% who said knows them. Yet 100% of the interviewed pointed the lack of physical activity as factor determining the causes of obesity. Among cardiovascular diseases in the obesity the result analyzed was: 77.7% of interviewed unknow them, and among the 22.3% who said knows them, only 75% know the myocardial infarction as disease, and 62.5% know the heart failure, 50% to tachycardia and 25% the hypertension. Among the alteration osteomusculares, 83.4% of those interviewed did not know them. Only 11.1% of teachers of physical education researchers say knowing the main endocrine alterations related to obesity. For the clinic evaluation of obesity we use as reference the IMC, (Body Mass Index). For sustain the results gotten were accomplished interviews with experts: 2 doctors endocrinologysts, 2 doctors cardiologists and 2 nutritionists. Interviews with experts proved the necessity of learning for teachers of physical education in relation to obesity, and in especially its prevention. |
