Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the situation of property rights and identity of traditional communities, named ribeirinhos, created by the construction of the Belo Monte dam. At first, considering the adoption of the socioenvironmental conflict methodology, it was decided to conduct a historical and legal analysis of the procedures necessary for the construction and operation of the Belo Monte dam. The presentation of the social actors was made throughout the chapters of the dissertation. Regarding Norte Energia, it was sought to demonstrate its performance as the company responsible for the construction of Belo Monte. And, in regard to the ribeirinhos, protagonists of a survival fight, this work tried to demonstrate that identity and property can be analyzed by both anthropological and juridical perspectives. Being, then, contrasted with the reality lived by the traditional communities of Belo Monte. Thus, it was attempted to build a panorama of the ribeirinhos situation in Belo Monte, through the constructions of categories based on identity and property.
