Resumo: |
The introduction of the MERCOSUL in 1990 improved the commercial relationship of its members, specifically providing a strong and sustainable growth of the foreign trade between Brazil and Argentina, in almost all of its economy sectors. In the electronics market we cannot see the same trend and development, as this has been a critical market for both countries, especially because of its factories established in Free Trade Zones, with several kinds of benefits provided by its governments, and also because of several economic crisis that happened in both countries in the past decades. This study comprises data of the recent development and results of both electronics markets, linking its cost structure, duties, taxes and its operations with its low competitiveness in exports, mainly via a case study with data provided by a well known multinational consumer electronics company. The case study proposes the existence of a big potential market, with enough volume to sustain the attractiveness of components manufacturers to the region, as a way to increase production competitiveness of the locally manufactured products, transforming the region in an important electronics export zone to Latin America and other regions. |
