Resumo: |
Purpose – The result of the research carried out in this work aims to contribute to the study of the relationship of teaching methods to technological advances, stimulating the Public Administration for investments in the implementation of computer resources in municipal schools. Also, observe the reflexes of the adoption of such resources in the proficiency in Mathematics of 5th year students in municipal schools. Methodology - Quantitative research was used based on data from SAEB - Prova Brasil - in 2011, 2013 and 2015, regarding the answers of Mathematics teachers and students of the 5th year of primary education to the questionnaires applied and their proficiencies in Mathematics. The data were analyzed comparing the cumulative distribution of proficiency in individualized Mathematics of students, stratified socioeconomically, in their respective classes and the cumulative distribution of proficiency considering the median levels of stratification of each class. Findings – It was demonstrated that students, whose teachers used the computer resources available at school obtained a higher proficiency in Mathematics in those years than students who did not have those resources available. Research limitations - The main limitation was the presence of questionnaires, applied to teachers and students, partially completed. Data on these questionnaires were disregarded. Practica limplications - From these results the public administration can adopt public policy that contemplates the necessary acquisitions and / or updating of the schools with all the computer resources - internet, hardware, educational software etc. - available for this purpose, in addition to the continuous training of teachers, which will broadly increase the performance in Mathematics of the students of the municipal network. Social implications - The teaching of Mathematics is linked to the social and intellectual formation of the students making it a citizen with knowledge and able to deal with the changes of society, facilitating social and cultural relations and their insertion in the labor market. Originality - To our knowledge, this is the first study that relates student proficiency in Mathematics, stratified in socioeconomic categories, with the use of information technology and educational software in the schools that make available and those that do not make them available |
