Resumo: The development of this study aimed at the examination of the relationship between risk-taking and work accident. The role of sex and locus of control was also examined. Another aim of this paper was to construct an instrument to measure risk taking in work situations. Eighty semi-specialized workers (who had or had not suffered accidents, males and females) were utilized in order to test the hypothesis that there is a relationship among risk, locus of control and sex and that there is a relationship between each variable and accident in work situations. The data showed that there aren't significate relationships among these variables and between each of and work accident. The sample characteristics have been them held responsible for the results. The instrument ad hoc constructed showed itself to be useful for this type of research.
