Resumo: |
Sexual harassment related to work is a topic that has been little studied in the Brazilian academic reality, although it is possible to perceive the relevance of its study in the scope of organizations. Hence the idea of discussing sexual violence at work based on cases of sexual harassment suffered by Brazilian women in leadership positions. Based on this knowledge, this research aims to analyze the situations of sexual harassment suffered by women in leader ship positions in their professional trajectories, and how the cases of sexual harassment were experienced by them and treated by the organizations in which they work (vam). The discussion is relevant to the extent that this woman is inserted in an organizational context of male domination, where it is expected that the woman does not occupy strategic positions. The research is base on the theoretical perspective of social constructionism of Berger and Luckman (1999) and qualitative methodological approach (grounded theory), based on the symbolic interactionis perspective of Charmaz (2009). Data were obtained from 43 interviews with women who hold or have held leadership positions in organizations in Brazil. The research concludes that 1) sexual harassment is still very present in the professional trajectory of women in the labor market, directly or indirectly impacting their rise to leadership positions, 2) sexual violence has consequences for the physical and mental health of women, in addition to a high load of negative, degrading and traumatizing emotions and feelings, 3) when women reached the leadership position, they practically no longer suffered sexual harassment, 4) organizations still tend to perceive sexual harassment as a part normalized organizational culture, showing no commitment to avoid or reduce cases of sexual harassment within its organizational environment. The substantive theory shows that the sexual harassment suffered by women at work is still very present, leaving traces of evil, but that tends to be extinguished when they reach a leadership position. The theory is provisional and contingent and reflects the interpretation of a particular researcher. It is expected that it will expand the field of Administration studies and encourage researchers to continue their investigation of sexual harassment against women in leadership positions. |
