Resumo: Sports take up a privileged position in the world of entertainment and involve an enormous capacity of generating income and employment thus reaching a status of business. For these reasons, the prime objective of the following study is to identify how the Marketing department of a football club as a professional management, with a well defined strategic planning, can generate tangible and intangible benefits to a community. We will then study the case of the Atlético-PR's marketing management, a model benchmarking in the world of Brazilian football. We will then attempt to demonstrate how well managed sport marketing can increase the financiai resources traditionally done by the Brazilian football clubs, like broadcasting fees, Internet, product licensing, ticket sales, publicity and sponsors. In order to achieve such goals, we will use a theoretic and practice study of the reality of those sources of income, at their present stage. Furthermore, we will present international and successful national experiences that, once adapted, could raise the amount collected nowadays by Brazilian football clubs. The results show that there are many marketing tools that can be used in the sports segment, as the study of the Atlético-PR case suggests. Tools capable of making Brazilian clubs increase their financiai resources potential.
