Resumo: Using the Global Location Trends database from IBM, this paper attempts to understand the impacts of the Greenfield FDI in the region and analyse, in more detail the Chinese Greenfield investment in Latin America from 2007 to 2017. Consequently, this paper will understand what the differences between Chinese and American investment during this period are. There is no doubt that a lot ofspeculation has been made in the past few years regarding Chinese investment internationally along with claims that China is taking over the US spot in terms of FDI. This paper focuses explicitly on Greenfield foreign direct investment as opposed to portfolio investment and will assess whether these speculations are correct or not. As a result, both countries have different investment focus. Goods and service are the focusfor Americans, while China focuses on infrastructure.
