Resumo: Nowadays. there is a huge demand of society for the private companies to develop in a sustainable way and to have practices of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In tourism. this debate is even more imminent. as many eommunities live and depend on the sector. \\hich at the same time. brings many adverse impacts. Some Brazilian cities. like Paraty (RJ). revitalized its eeonomy through tourism. after long years of govern negleet. However they try to maintain its development in a balanced \\ay. \vithout harming the local peeuliarities. In analyzing the sustainability and CSR issues. it is observed that they literature is still under construetion. \\ith fragmented and inconclusive results. leaving many theoretieal gaps. In addition. there are fe\\ studies about the hotel management in Paraty. \\hich is the main subsystem of tourism. Therefore. this study investigates the pereeption and praetiees of CSR. that Paraty's lodgin managers made. It was studied in a exploratory way. operationalized through in-depth interviews. It was interviewed managers of eight lodging facilities in the historie eity. seleeted by price range. The universe ofthis study is eomposed of about 30 small businesses. The data \Vere analyzed using content analysis teehniques. It was concluded that the charaeteristies of the lodging facilities studied differ aecording to your priee range. At the same time, regardless of the differences. fonns of management. as well as the pereeption and practices of CSR are similar to studies analyzed in small tinns. that are rarely approached in Business. In addition. ali managers interviewed have a great awareness of the positive and negative aspects of the city. the impacts of tourism and its responsibilities to minimize / maximize these impaets. Despite their knowledge of the CSR is not systematic and its praetiees are not eonstant and included in eompany' 5 planning. the managers show that have a high sense of citizenship. awareness and propensity to invest more in sustainable tourism in the city. Finally. it \\as found that the forms of perception and action of these managers differs from that proposed for much of the literature on CSR and sustainability. although they are authentic and concrete ways to promote a balanced and sustainable development.
