Resumo: The traditional problem of decision on as to determine the best moment to sell the coffee was aggravated by the economic globalisation and for the advent of the Infonnation Technology (lT). For evaluate chances and realities of the strategical use of IT for the management of the coffee producer's cooperatives has been considered in this work a specific problem: the question of the control of coffee supplies and the verification of the costs for quality. The traditionally used managemental models involve conventional systems of control of supply and analysis of costs, but they control only the amounts storaged for type of coffee, not controlling its costs. Nonnally they consider as cost the average of the prices of purchase of coffee, in one detennined period. Thus they disable the knowledge of the true cost of the sold product in accordance with its quality, compromising the verification of its real margin of profit in each operation of sale. Soon, the real result of the purchases and sales of coffee alone are known when analysed a long period, because it suffers influence from the fluctuations from the some types of coffee that are commercialised. A conceptual model was developed to assist the control and the knowledge of the real cost ofthe coffee for quality, making possible the correct verification ofthe economic result, contributing to improve the strategical control of the coffee supplies and the operational planning ofthe housekeeping ofblends. This model integrates the management of supplies with the management of costs of coffee for quality. This study have an extended vision of the management in one cooperative company, considering the work inside and out of the company, relating controls of supplies of the cooperated, physical and 'virtual' (supply of the cooperated that was used) and the consuming market, making possible a more efficient control to the reduction of the risk of the cooperative. The knowledge of the features of the types of coffee for quality, that compose the control of physical supply and that they make to float the account option, brings greater life and security for the cooperative. When considering a new model, integrating the analysis costs and quality, the work provoked the examination of some procedures currently in use, preparing the environrnent ofthe company for a new managemental mentality. It made with that procedures related to the quality of the coffee were structuralized in the model of operation of the company, serving of reference for the works to the managemental integration and ISO 9002 certification. In this way, the cooperative initiated a process of continuous improvement, with the constant identification of chances, inspecting and bringing up to date indices, raising problems and considering solutions. The work brings a contribution to the studies of management integrated in agribusiness of the coffee. The innovation occurs through the development of a conceptual model of management of supplies and costs for quality, ally to the model of economic management, contributing for the improvement of the management and the performance of the sector. It points a chance of if in accordance with giving to an advance with respect to the management of costs and risks, becoming the sector most competitive and the new enterprise culture and with the standards of market competition.
