Resumo: | This study is based on Paulo Freire's critical approach to university extension as communication, to analyze potential paths for the curricularization of extension practices in Law courses, aiming at the formation of a graduate-citizen in the pursuit of the realization of Fundamental Rights. The research is guided by Freirean theoretical framework, especially the category of extension as communication between the university and society. The study critically examines the banking education paradigm, its prevalence in the history of Law courses, and its influence on university extension, aiming to analyze how the education of Law graduates can contribute to the realization of Fundamental Rights in society. The method used for the development of the research was deductive, primarily through bibliographic and documentary research. Initially, problems related to legal education were identified, based on a historical overview of its formation, as well as the context of university extension and its normative bases. Subsequently, university extension was analyzed from the perspective of the humanistic formation of Law students, mainly based on Resolution CNE/CES No. 07/2018. Following this, possibilities for the curricularization of extension activities in Law courses were analyzed, from the perspective of extension as communication, as proposed by Paulo Freire, establishing the relations of this proposal with Resolution CNE/CES No. 05/2018, which establishes the National Guidelines for Law Courses in the country. Finally, it was understood that it is necessary to break away from the foundations of banking education, promoting an education based on the inseparable tripod of research, teaching, and extension. Thus, issues such as citizenship, social participation, access to justice, and the promotion of human rights are discussed in the context of legal education. Furthermore, reflections are presented on how the integration of extension into the curriculum can broaden students' perspectives and enable them to act more committedly towards social justice and respect for fundamental rights, serving as an instrument for breaking the theoretical common sense among jurists, which is presented as a conformity of concepts and paradigms imposed on society. Through a critical and propositional analysis, the study fosters the search for subsidies to improve legal education in Brazil, highlighting the importance of forming graduate-citizens as agents of transformation and promotion of citizenship. Finally, proposals are presented for possible ways to enhance the process of curricularizing extension, aiming at a more comprehensive and engaged education for future Law professionals |
