Children's relationships with new technologies widen the debate between the risks, opportunities and limits of use of digital social networking sites and the same in this scenario. This research analyzed the interaction of children of São Paulo, Brazil and the uses and appropriations of Instagram social networking site, a photo application that presents an opportunity for children to express themselves and interact through images, increasing the degree of visibility and media engagement in contemporary societies. Theoretically the study aimed to recognize the child, although it is influenced by adult behavior, has the ability to produce their own messages and build their meanings within their sociocultural context. Through non-participant observation of a virtual visual corpus and field research, along with ethnography method, the study sought to hear children, between 6 and 12 years old, of high social class, students from a school in the south of São Paulo and also investigate how share the content related to the communication and the symbolic consumption in the digital world. The main objective of this is to contribute to the field of audience study with children and the relationships and motivations exposed, allow researchers, educators and interested in general, under these angles, what they do and think about in their social networks. |
