Resumo: BACKGROUND: With the advent of oncoplastic breast surgery there was often an improvement on the initial status of the breast with increasing the patient`s self-esteem. But despite the use of these techniques still noted, in clinical practice, a significant percentage of patients dissatisfied with the post-surgical result regarding breast symmetry. This dissatisfaction is often subjective and can lead to breakage of the harmony in the doctor-patient relationship and a likely and unwanted legal questioning. OBJECTIVE: Validate an application for smartphone and/or tablet, the BSymmetry, through comparative analysis of pre and postoperative mammary symmetry in patients undergoing oncoplastic surgery of the breast. METHOD: Patients breast unit of Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças in Curitiba – PR, undergoing breast-conserving surgery with immediate reconstruction with oncoplastics techniques involving different cutaneous accesses, pedicles and mammoplasty for symmetrization between contralateral January 2012 to September 2015 had their breasts photographed in pre and post-operative (6 months). These images were submitted to BSymmetry software that made breast symmetry analysis by providing a percentage. It was made a relationship between these percentages and oncological e clinicals variables. RESULTS: The variables studied: breast surgery, BMI, smoking, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, menopausal status, size of your breasts (prior to surgery), oncoplástica surgery type, size and location of the tumor in the breast and radiotherapy have not changed so statistically significant the breast symmetry. The study found agreement and/or similarity ranging from slight (pre and post-operative) to moderate (change of symmetry) on evaluation of the symmetry between the BSymmetry application in relation to the BCCT.core software. CONCLUSIONS: The breast symmetry is very important in post-surgical patient's satisfaction and medical professional. The BSymmetry application showed to be easy to use – available for smartphones and tablets. It has simple download and mobility. It presented agreement and/or similarity ranging from slight to moderate when compared to the BCCT. core software in breast oncoplastic surgery.
