Resumo: | Given the expansion of postgraduate studies in Brazil, this study focuses on the collaboration of a Graduate Program in Health Promotion regarding the qualification and professional insertion of its graduates. In order to meet the demands arising from society with human resources capable of seeking healthy and sustainable responses beyond the health sector, the objective was to analyze the profile, competencies acquired in Health Promotion and insertion in the labor market of former graduates. National stricto sensu program in Health Promotion, Master and Doctorate. It is a survey by telephone, with a quantitative and qualitative objective, exploratory character, the profile of graduates from 2012 to 2017. To do so, we used the telephone contact to apply the own questionnaire, consisting of open and closed questions. For quantitative data, descriptive statistics were used and for qualitative data the references of Paulo Freire, Edgar Morin and Health Promotion. The sample totaled 54 participants, representing 50.5% of the egress population of the period. Most are female, average age 33, married, with two children and active in the labor market. Of these, the majority (37%) teach in private HEIs, followed by (48%) those who divide the workload between care and teaching. Regarding the acquisition of PS competencies during Unifran's title in PPGPS, there was unanimity, 54 (100%) in partnership, advocacy, planning, empathy and favoring change competences. In terms of creativity and leadership skills, there were 37 (68.5%) and 51 (94.5%) participants, respectively, who stated that they had acquired this competence. The development of competencies in PS is benefited by the reflexive critical approach adopted as the objective proposed by the program, premises based on Paulo Freire and Edgar Morin, committed to reality by extracting the essence of practice and allowing the transformation of reality. The findings indicated that strategies used in the study program enabled the graduates to feel competent to act according to the premises proposed by the Health Promotion. They were able to favor the rupture and the transformation movement of the health care model and health education. It is noteworthy that part of these graduates are already working in teaching and thus feeding the teaching process from the perspective of Health Promotion.
