Resumo: | Male and female Wistar rats were injected subcutaneously with CdCl² in order to study hematologically and biochemically the effects of cadmium in the blood. During the eight days after the administration of 0.4 mg / ml / day of CdCl², the following events occurred: 1) body weight was reduced; 2) cadmium reduced the total number of erythrocytes, the hemoglobin content, the hematocrit and the percentage of lymphocytes; on the other hand, the total number of leukocytes and the percentage of neutrophils in females increased; 3) CdCl² increased the percentage of neutrophils and decreased the percentage of lymphocytes in males; 4) there was an increase in aspartate aminotransferase and bilirubin, in addition to a decrease in creatinine in females; 5) in males there was a decrease in alkaline phosphatase and cholesterol. In the conditions of this study, the most evident changes were observed in the females treated with CdCl². |
