O humor em Geraldinho e a caracterização do gênero causo

Resumo: Our work, which analyzes stories told by Geraldinho, starts from two main objectives: to characterize the genus causo and to observe which linguistic elements contribute to the construction of humor in this genre. For the constitution of the corpus, we selected three stories that present very different themes - O Osso, O Marimbondo and A Bicicreta- in order to demonstrate that in this genre humor is not linked to the explored theme, as often happens with jokes and other genres humorous. The choice of the preacher in question and its causes is mainly due to the fact that they are original and spontaneous. As a theoretical framework for the study of the linguistic mechanisms that promote humor, we adopt concepts that come from both Textual and Sociolinguistics, based on the considerations of Koch (2002, 2003, 2005), Lakoff and Johnson (2002), Abreu (2000 ), Preti (1997), Cezaro and Votre (2008) and Penha (1970, 1972, 1976, 1983, 1977). In order to characterize the textual genus causo, we adopted the text analysis model proposed by Bronckart (1999) and Carmelino (2006), which takes into account the thematic content, the production context and the infrastructure of the genre. After the analysis, we found that the story is configured in its own genre, distinct from other narrative genres, as it consists of speech shifts. It is marked by informal interaction, in which the preacher simply portrays themes common to the daily life of the countryman and rescues cultural knowledge to win the attention of his interlocutors and provoke their laughter. Geraldinho's speech is marked by the caipira vocabulary that is observed not only by the different lexicon and by certain phonological processes, but also by metaphorical expressions. All of these elements consist of important characteristics to produce a humorous effect on the interlocutor, who proceeds to balance the implicit and explicit information to infer the meaning of the text.
