Resumo: The aging of society is nowadays a worldwide phenomenon. In Brazil, the demographic revolution is one of the most important changes that have occurred in the last hundred years. This study aimed to evaluate health education at the Open University for the Elderly, together with the elderly, as a strategy for healthy aging, to investigate how to improve the quality of life. Methodology: this is a descriptive intervention research, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, with a dialectical approach. Material and Methods: In this course, a sociodemographic form was used to characterize the profile of the participants, the semi-structured ones with problems involving the perception of health and aging, and also health education intervention workshops. The results were systematized in tables, for the analysis of sociodemographic data and content analysis for the interpretation of the speeches of the participants, as well as an instrument called spider web for the evaluation of health education workshops. As a result, it is noteworthy that, this study was characterized mainly by female participants, of white color / race, married, mothers, retirees, comprised in an age range ranging from 60 - 83 years, with high educational level and economic solvency. Most self-declared to be in good health, even suffering from some chronic disease, as well as the practice of physical exercise in their daily lives. Despite the promotion of health education for the promotion of healthy aging, this theme is not included in the courses and activities within the Open University for the Elderly aimed at the elderly. Thus, it is proposed to conduct more research on this topic, in order to think of effective alternatives for the development of Health Education actions consistent with the need for the elderly, outside the Unespian walls. Keywords: Aging. Health education. Health promotion.
