Resumo: This study aims to demonstrate the importance of the search for new alternatives that help and ease the job of the portuguese teacher. With the application and execution of scholar projects, it was chosen the reading of newspapers in classroom and the creation of the class’ daily. This research sought to testify the improvement in the production’s hability of written texts with the use of the newspaper in the classroom. The work with several textual genres in the production of the newspaper in classroom provided us better results when it had the possibility of being escorted and guided by the same teacher, with the same class over many years of the elementary school. In this work, the objective will be to verify the way texts were produced and which is the thematic content, the compositional structure and the style of each genre. The grammatical issues are important when it is taught the production of written texts, but it won’t be priority in this research, since the texts were produced by elementary students that don’t have complete domain of the grammatical accuracy. It’s of our interest if the used textual genre is appropriated to the production situation and if the text attends the proposal of the construction of meanings. The texts here chosen were produced by the same students, along the period they used to attend, respectively, the 8th and 9th grades, in the sequence of the project realization. Therefore, this research aims at analysing the effects of the schooling in the final grades of the elementary and high school, taking into account the problematic related to the lack of books access. It’s our intention to also analyze in which way this influences in the reading tastes and makes the development of the ability of textual production difficult and about the reading habit in favor of the promotion of the construction of a meaning in the textual production regarding the difficulty of written argumentation. The present study is justified by the obtained results at specific classes along the process of schooling, sequentialy worked over a certain period and having as a support tool the use of newspapers in the classroom. It starts from the premise that when the work is sequenced with the intervention and commitment of the teacher/educator, it becomes viable the process of appropriation of the textual genres over the years and that the lack of educational resources and used methods weren’t enough to awake the student’s interest. So, this work is composed by the analysis of different textual genres, in the vision of several experts in the teaching of the portuguese language and how results of this learning interferes in the formation of the student. So, the teacher must be in constant renovation process and improvement of educational practices. After all, the practice, when has the intention of being transformative, takes place after many years of effort and dedication.
