Resumo: The purpose of this work is based on the search for understanding the conditions of discursive production that led to the emergence of the slogans of the sign – called sexual ranking – exposed to the public of the campus of ESALQ/USP in the city of Piracicaba, in June 2015, in addition to the comments arising from this discursive event. We aim to observe the construction and the functioning of the discourses that manifest the power relations. In a social space, power and discursive practices promote and reaffirm themselves mutually, and this happens as far as the circulating discourses can only exist if they follow an order that allows specific effects of truth to circulate instead of others. On the other hand, we also analyze the resistant replies to such discourses. It is also part of our job here to recognize the imaginary formations involved in these discursive interactions. We applied the French approach of the studies of Discourse Analysis, which is a theory that on its initial process had a perspective of Language as being an expression of the ideologies and of the unconsciousness. Furthermore, we brought some other authors‘ contributions related to this theme to the discussion, such as Foucault‘s reflections that guided this research due to the achae-genealogic approach to the concepts of subject, enunciate, power relations, and discourse regulatory mechanisms, which enable or disable not only the production but also the circulation of sets of knowledge and will of truth. We also used Michel Pêcheux‘s concepts that will be listed according to their pioneering spirit in the discursive studies, once they considered the influence of extra linguistic factors in the constitution of meanings. Additionally, we reached for Barros and her contributions on intolerant discourses, and for Courtine‘s approach to the body as discourse. The theoretical support on gender inequality was developed mainly according to the authors: Butler, Safiotti and Louro. The analyzed scope cover the image of the sign published at ESALQ, and the comments posted on the news website g1.com, one of the pages where the article that provided comments here examined was published.
