Resumo: The present study’s goal was to investigate the epidemic occurrence of RSI/WRMD in shoes manufacturing workers in Franca – SP, aiming to portrait a profile of the occurrences in the studied group, which has been receiving great attention from brazilian and foreign researchers, due to it’s large incidence, since the second half of the XX century, among pathologies related to work and occupational diseases. In order to complete the research, the used data came originally from public and private healthcare, which produced a report over the treatment given to people injured while working (in Portuguese, RAAT) that was later sent to a Center of Reference on the Worker’s Health (also in Portuguese, CRST) from the Municipal General Health’s office of this town, that proceeded to the storage of the collected data in a computer program called the RAAT System version: 1.0.38, specially developed by the Computer Science Division of Franca’s City Hall. To base this study, secondary data was obtained by a transverse cut in the year of 2006 and this work aimed to identify the prevalence of RSI/WRMD, considering specially the gender, age, occupation, working hours, the type of activity, the working place and its regime, the time the worker was put away (in days); the causing agent, the diagnoses based on the international code of diseases (CID - 10, in Portuguese). The sample was made of 2057 notified cases in workers of both genders, informed in the mentioned year. The group of epidemic information obtained made some reflections possible, concerning those pathologies and the problems due to under-notification, the personal issues found by the worker, the economic problems related to the factories and the levels of workers absences and the costs to State Social Providence in our country, and, second this work, the shoes industries of the city of Franca-SP, they should be the main interested parties in reducing the incidence so much of diseases of the work of any nature, as of occupational diseases in general and RSI/WRMD in matter.
