Resumo: Currently, solid waste generation is one of the problems that most affect the modern society, with the tree pruning residues inserted in this context. Occupy a prominent place in the current scenario because of its abundance and renewable character, becoming quite relevant studies on its destination. In this thesis was studied the acid hydrolysis as an alternative for pretreatment of lignocellulosic residues by monitoring their performance in the production of total sugars, reducing sugars, non reducing sugars, glucose, soluble solids and their characterization by ash content, moisture content, fiber and thermal analysis. It ws employed factorial design response surface with three variables at two levels (23 ) with three replicates at the central point. The variables used are acid concentration, time and temperature. There was obtained efficiently in achieving the total sugar in the range of 28%. The highest temperature (100 ° C) and greater acid concentration (5%) resulted in the best results for the responses studied, as well as time was considered the least important variable in the same conditions. Thermal analysis was more a resource for obtaining information on this type of waste and was more an important indication to be studied on the performance of this type of waste.
