Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the color stability, after one year of cementation, of thin ceramic laminate veneers as a function of the mode of curing (with and without pre-cure) of different adhesive systems applied to the internal surface of the ceramics. Five adhesive systems (Scotchbond Multipurpose, Single Bond Universal, Gluma 2 Bond, Amber and Ambar APS) and photo-cured resin cement (Allcem Veneer, shade E Bleach) were used for cementing 0.6 mm-thick feldspathic laminate veneers (Mark II, shade 2M1C) on composite resin substrates (Charisma Diamond, shade B1). The groups, according to the adhesive system, were divided into two subgroups (n = 10): in the first, the adhesive and the resin cement were polymerized separately (pre-cure of the adhesive), while in the second subgroup, adhesive and resin cement were polymerized simultaneously (no pre-cure of the adhesive). The specimens were then stored in distilled water at 37°C. The CIELab color parameters were determined with a spectrophotometer at 24 hours (baseline), 7 days, 30 days and 12 months. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (α = 0.05). The results indicated statistically significant differences for adhesive systems and time. The mode of curing of the adhesive system was not statistically significant: pre-cured adhesives (2.57 ± 1.26)a and not pre-cured adhesives (2.77 ± 1.36)a . For the adhesives, mean ΔE values varied in the following order: Ambar APS (1.63 ± 0.49)a < Scotchbond Multipurpose (2.60 ± 1.19)b < Gluma (2.71 ± 1, 17)b < Ambar (2.92 ± 1.24)b < Single Bond Universal (3.52 ± 1.52)c . When considering the aging period, mean ΔE values were: 7 days (1.67 ± 0.71)a , 30 days (3.45 ± 1.20)c and 12 months (2.88 ± 1.25)b . It can be concluded that the different adhesive systems used in the cementation of thin ceramic laminate veneers influenced on the final color of the indirect restorations. The curing mode (with or without pre-cure) of the adhesives did not present a significant effect in the color stability of thin ceramic veneers.
