Resumo: |
This study aims to understand what Gonzaga Duque calls life in art. In order to reach that goal, we try to understand how this critic operates, noticing how the field of art in Brazil in the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century worked. We try to find evidences on Gonzaga Duque writings, focusing on excerpts in which he refers to this life as a means of building a concept that can help us better visualize this criticism. We start discussing matters of the art in order ro reacher life, relating to movement, to “thuth”, sensations and thought; important elements for the understanding of life in art.
