Sumari: | Photography emerged in the 19th century, more precisely in 1822, with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce1. However, the date considered official is 1839, following the improvement of the technique by Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre2. From that moment on, several discoveries regarding photographic records became public knowledge and, consequently, positive results and specific investigations gradually shaped the techniques known today in the photography scene. For a long time, however, the written document was prioritized as the most important source compared to other examples. This preference for text would permeate the first decades of the 20th century, until Marc Bloch and Lucien Febvre 3expanded the notion of documents, postulating that the absence of written records could not mean the lack of possibility of writing History. According to Le Goff (1990), everything related to man can be used as a document/monument for the source of History. |
