Zusammenfassung: | The Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer is a widely used suite for simulating crop growth, development, and yield. Its SBuild module is responsible for creating and editing soil profiles used by the crop models. However, the original SBuild was implemented with legacy technologies and is largely constrained to a single operating system, which hinders maintainability, portability, and usability. This paper presents a new SBuild interface built with Python and the PyQt framework, backed by the dssattools library for reading and writing soil files. The interface was implemented using a layered architecture, modular Python components, automated tests, and cross-platform packaging. The tool preserves the essential capabilities of the original module while streamlining soil profile creation, editing, and validation. Internal tests confirmed correct round-trip reading and writing of DSSAT soil files and showed improvements in user interaction through a more intuitive layout and embedded checks. |
