Shrnutí: This dissertation seeks to present what lies between the lines of the mythical and legendary narratives of the Amazon, in this case, having as the object of this study the legend of the Boto, which is part of the imagination of riverside communities. Regional stories and legends portray the way in which riverside communities justify their difficulties, stories of abandonment, losses, violence, social, ideological and gender inequalities based on the narration of myths and legends that, in a veiled way, expose their human condition and experiences in these communities that are part of the Amazon region. The main objective of this study is to identify the main stories of the Boto legend. As specific objectives, the research seeks to analyze the collected stories and bibliographical materials related to this legend, as well as to interview one of the collaborators of the Associação Filhas do Boto Nunca Mais, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) created in 2018, when a group of women realized that most cases of abuse and intra-family violence in the riverside communities of Porto Velho/Rondônia were naturalized and the victims were silenced for fear of reporting the aggressor. Thus, it seeks to present the reality of social inequalities that are revealed through the legendary Amazonian narratives linked to the Boto. The proposal for carrying out this study will be through qualitative research that will use as theoretical reference sources scientific articles, books, theses and dissertations related to the subject, in addition to the interview with one of the collaborators of the Associação Filhas do Boto Nunca Mais.
