Summary: |
The main objective of this work is to analyze the various ways of approaching the theme of the Proclamation of the Republic that took place on the 15th of November 1889, in history textbooks. This research was carried out due to the importance of this historical fact for the country, and how it reaches students in Brazilian schools. Today, the purpose of teaching in Brazilian schools is to provide students with conditions for forming critical individuals, participatory and capable of acting in the transformation of society (CONTIERO, 2002, p. 59). In Brazil, textbooks are inserted in the history of education, books and publishing. And it undergoes changes that are the result of the political, institutional, demographic, economic and regulatory context that the country is going through in each period. In the 19th century, in Brazil, there was a dissemination of literate knowledge and with this, actions to inspect textbooks emerged, as the fear of the Liberal State was the dangers of the contents present in the texts that would be distributed to a large number of children and young people across the country. |
