Sumari: | The pit-houses build and inhabited by the indigenous peoples of the Macro-Jê linguistic group, also known as Proto-Jê or Southern Jê, have been studied and represented based in certain archaeological models in research and studies in the area. This type of earthen construction had various functions within the Jê communities, as well as similarities with other constructions around the world. Becoming the subject of archaeological studies, research on this type of structures has demonstrated not only construction characteristics and archaeological artifacts, but also other things involving the Proto-Jê groups and how they appropriated the landscape in their settlements and sites, forming an important part of the culture of these peoples. Certain representations of the pit-houses focused on the visual language of illustration, which, throughout the history of the discipline of Archaeology, has served as an important resource for scientific studies. Visual language within Archaeology emerged and was directly linked to the process of creation of the discipline, being applied in the design of archaeological and architectural materials, field drawings, and other categories of the area. This research, recognizing the importance of visual language for archaeological studies, focuses on combining drawing and illustration with studies of the pit-houses of the Proto-Jê peoples, analyzing and mapping their representations made by researchers in Brazilian Archaeology. In addition, by studying the structures and their respective representations, we seek to understand their possible functions and perceptions through the worldviews of the groups descended from the Southern Jê, especially the Kaingang and Laklaño peoples. Along with these perspectives, practices of representing an pit-house will be carried out according to the rules of archaeological illustration and its different categories, based on field research in the city of Vista Alegre do Prata/RS by the Study Group on Material Culture and Archaeology at the University of Passo Fundo. |
