Samenvatting: This work address about the history of the Oro Wari indigenous people from their genesis to the creation of the Sagarana Indigenous Land (TI), with an emphasis on indigenous memories of the creation of the village in the 1960s, in the municipality of Guajará-mirim, State of Rondônia. After contact with non-indigenous people during projects to repopulate and integrate the Amazon with the rest of the country, motivated by the mistaken idea of a demographic void and the conception that its original inhabitants were hostile, incapable and, most importantly, an obstacle to the development of the region. The investigation begins with the trajectory of the first human groups in the Amazon until the most critical moment in the trajectory of these indigenous people, as well as their near decimation due to conflicts. The study includes the pacification process, epidemics and the intervention of religious orders in the context of the implementation of rubber plantations for latex extraction during and after World War II, using the resource of Oral History to record the memories of the indigenous people of that period. The aim is to understand the historical processes that the ethnic group has undergone and to shed light on contemporary conflicts. Thus, it is based on three hypotheses: the first is that, although the Wari are the largest indigenous people in Rondônia, they are not the oldest, having migrated to the region about a thousand years before the arrival of the Europeans due to the expansion and migration of the Tupi through the Amazon; the second is that the Wari groups, above all, sought to avoid conflict with foreigners (enemies, as they refer to those who did not belong to their groups) and remained isolated until the outbreak of invasions of their territories by rubber tappers, retaliating only when their huts were attacked; the third is without the effective action of Catholic religious (Friar Roberto and team) in confronting epidemics and without the creation of Sagarana, the Wari were completely decimated. Avoiding conflict is a Wari characteristic that remains present in contemporary relationships and conflicts. The study is included within the scope of Cultural History and Ethnohistory, and its approach and treatment of sources are Oral History and Exploratory Research, and its domain, in relation to historical agents, is Indigenous History, dialoguing interdisciplinarily with the Human and Social Sciences.
