Zusammenfassung: | Naturally, the components of the stomatognathic system act harmoniously in speech, mastication and swallowing, with synchrony and functionality. However, due to changes in the face, in the development of the mandible and/or maxilla, in occlusion, or in aesthetics, its natural balance can be broken. Thus, different treatments become necessary. Orthognathic surgery is one of the most requested treatments for these craniofacial irregularities. This can be linked to other areas of dentistry, with the aim of meeting all the patient's needs in a single treatment plan. The main objective of this work was to study the interdisciplinarity applied to the diagnosis and treatment of these deformities, with emphasis on orthognathic surgery combined with orthodontics and orofacial harmonization. The present work reports the clinical case of a female patient, leukoderma, 28 years old, Angle class III, who sought care for orofacial rehabilitation, presenting considerable abnormalities involving the stomatognathic system, being initially submitted to an ortho-surgical preparation , to subsequently perform orthognathic surgery. After that, other procedures were performed, such as bichectomy, aesthetic procedures for facial harmonization, gingival repair and tooth whitening. The correct diagnosis, accompanied by meticulous planning, can result in effective multidisciplinary treatments that will satisfy different patient desires and thus increase the possibility of meeting both aesthetic and functional expectations. |
